The stamp set for today's card is new, that's why we as demonstrators were given the opportunity to create with this fabulous stamp set early.  It's called Etched In Nature, and it's gorgeous!

  Here's the inspiration for my design,  my journal :)

And here's the card details:

4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Crumb Cake card base (5 1/2 x 8/12 folded in half)

3 3/8 x 4 1/8 Balmy Blue Cardstock layer

3 1/4 x 4 Very Vanilla Cardstock layer

Scrap of Very Vanilla piece for Wren and sentiment

Assembly and 'Trix' :

*  Stamp the image with the paragraph of words 4 times starting at the top right corner of the Very Vanilla layer and winding back to bottom right corner.  Using 1st & 2nd generation stamping.

*  Stamp the floral image using Mossy Meadow ink for the leaves and Blackberry Bliss for the flowers.  ***Trix, ink the stamp as best you can, leaves first and wipe off any excess green from the flowers, then ink the flowers  -  it's ok if it's not perfect :)  This is meant to be a background stamp and look distressed and worn.

*  Stamp the Wren using Memento Black ink on the card base to provide shadow and dimension.  (This Wren will be covered by the coloured one).

***Trix, further distress the background using Crumb Cake and Blending Brushes, softly blend in the Crumb Cake to give an aged look to the paper.  Adhere to the Balmy Blue layer and distress the corners a bit.  I separated the layers at the corner of the Balmy Blue and used my bone folder to curl the edges.

*  Using Blender Pens, blend the Mossy Meadow and Blackberry Bliss ink to enhance the leaves and flowers.  Pick up extra colour from the stamp pads as necessary.  Then adhere both layers to the Crumb Cake card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

*  Stamp the Wren on scrap paper using Memento Black ink,  and colour using Ivory and Bronze Stampin' Blends Markers, colour the branch as well.  I did add Petal Pink for the Wren's legs.  Then fussy cut out.  Adhere to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals on top to the Wren on the base to add some dimension.

*  Stamp the sentiment with Misty Moonlight ink and fussy cut out.

***Trix, unravel the ends of the Braided Linen Trim.  Add this and the Scalloped Lace Trim to the back of the sentiment using Multipurpose Liquid Glue and set aside to dry.  Adhere to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I hope this card inspires you to try a bit of distressing on your cards.  If you like my card I'd be happy if you left a comment and I'm always happy to answer any questions.  Enjoy and have a super day!

Watercolouring with Snow Front & Best Year Stamp Sets for FMS#482

 Hello and thx for visiting!

Today's post is a fun one - watercolouring -   Karren at Freshly Made Sketches has inspired  us with a really neat sketch.  Please click on either my card or the FMS image to go directly to their blog post.  The fabulous Snow Front and Waterfront stamp sets are retiring May 3 2021.  If you love watercolouring these two stamp sets are a must have for your collection.  Check out this project using 3 ink colours, Water Painters and Shimmery White Cardstock to create a Father's Day Card, perfect for the nature enthusiast!

And here's the card details:

:)  Sneak Peek of a New In Colors available May 4, 2021 in the new Annual Catalogue.  Evening Evergreen is used for the evergreen tree stamp and the cardstock base, but Mossy Meadow would be equally as beautiful and it's always available as one of the Neutrals Color pack.  Mossy Meadow is listed on the supply list link at the bottom of this post.

8 1/2 x 7 piece of new In Color Evening Evergreen Cardstock, score the 7 inch side at 3 1/2 and fold to create a Slimline card.

8 1/2 x 3 1/8 Shimmery White Cardstock.

Watercolouring 'Trix' & Assembly:

*  Using the widest Water Painter brush wet the middle section of the Shimmery White Cardstock across the full length of the card. ***Trix, I find it best to lay down a layer of water first and let it seep into the paper before I stamp so when the ink touches the paper it bleeds a bit and enhances the natural watercolour look of the stamped image.

*  Stamp the images across the card to create a scene.  The FMS#482 Challenge inspired this horizontal scene.  I used Pear Pizzaz for the grassy section of land on the left, followed by Evening Evergreen (a sneak peek for you - it's available May 4 in the new Annual Catalogue) You could use any green you prefer, the supplies list below suggests Mossy Meadow.   The water is Balmy Blue.

***Trix, Using the two smaller Water Painters, blend the lines of the stamped image to enhance  the watercolour look.  Blend the water image to create a line similar to FMS #482 sketch.

*  Set aside to dry and then adhere to Mossy Meadow Cardstock with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  ***Trix, If the Shimmery White curls a bit as it dries simply adhere with glue, and set aside with a couple of punches sitting on top to flatten it as the glue adheres.

*  Stamp the sentiment with Evening Evergreen ink and adhere with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

Art Deco Vintage for #TGIFC312 with the new Color Contour Bundle

 Hello and thx for visiting!

Todays card is inspired by my Great Great Grandmother's 1930's linen kitchen apron!  Yes seriously!   I found this apron earlier this year and immediately I knew I needed to make a card.  Fast forward to this week, when the TGIF Challenge Design Team inspired us with a Technique Challenge - Vintage! Yay! time to create!  Please click on either my card or the TGIF Challenges image to go directly to the TGIF 312 Vintage Challenge.

And here's the card details:

4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Very Vanilla Thick card base

4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Very Vanilla card stock

* New Color & Contour Bundle (available May 4)

Assembly and 'Trix'

* Draw a pattern of vertical lines using Light Petal Pink Stampin' Blends Marker (I was copying the subtle pattern within the linen of the apron)

* Stamp the flower using Misty Moonlight ink, using first generation and second generation stamping all over the Very Vanilla layer.

* Colour the flowers with Stampin' Blends Markers.  ***Trix - I always recommend using Memento Black ink when using blends, but this time I really wanted the Misty Moonlight colour, so I set my stamped images aside for a few extra minutes to dry before colouring.  And I only used one colour at a time, let it fully dry and then added more colour in different areas.  For example I coloured all the centers of the flowers first and then came back and coloured another area of the image, taking care not to blend the colours.   You could use Stampin' Write Markers or Watercolor Pencils instead of course, I just happened to have the colours I needed in blends.

* Colours used, Light Misty Moonlight, Light Old Olive, Light Pumpkin Pie, Dark Balmy Blue.

* I also used a little small image stamp from a retired Paper Pumpkin kit as a filler stamp, coloured with the same colours as above.

* Cut the image layer with the largest scalloped die from the Scalloped Contours Dies and adhere to the card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.

* Stamp the greeting with Misty Moonlight, die cut with a smaller scalloped rectangle and adhere using dimensionals.  ***Trix - before adhering the greeting, use Stampin' Seal on the back of the scalloped rectangle and lay the Scalloped Lace Trim over it, then adhere both to the card front.

*****  Want to get the Color & Contour Bundle now?  Click here Join Stampin' Up!®  and add this bundle to your kit! *****

*****  Remember the  Last Chance Products Sale continues.  Don't miss out on grabbing some great deals while supplies last.  Please use Host Code 4SAMCCJA and I will send you a little gift with your thank you card in May.

Here is a few other pictures you may enjoy.  I was so excited to find my mom's handwritten note in the pocket, and check out how closely the scalloped lace trim is to the original lace on the apron.

Color & Contour and Best Year stamp sets for PP537

Hello and thanks for visiting!

Today's card is inspired by a flower in my garden and the Paper Players Clean-And-Simple Challenge.  Please click on either my card or the Paper Players image to go directly to their blog post #PP537 and prepare to be inspired!

I'm excited to use the new In Color's but I'm also sad to say goodbye to some favourites.  SU's  #simplestamping challenge for the month of April is a SIP card with a favourite retiring item, and for me that's the Subtle 3D Embossing folder retiring May 3.  I'm really going to miss this one because it offers such a beautiful soft texture to the paper, enhancing the stamped images.  I've added a close up picture of it.

The new In Color 2021-2023 for today is Evening Evergreen - a beautiful dark, deep, rich, forest green.  The flower I chose from the new Color & Contour stamp set (available May 4) looked like the Hellebore flower I have blooming in my garden right now, it is an evergreen plant.  The gorgeous flowers bloom in spring, but the leaves last all year and are very dark green, like Evening Evergreen, so that became my inspiration.  Please see my flower photo from my garden and let me know if I've captured a likeness  :)

And here's the card details:

4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Thick Very Vanilla card base ( 5 1/2x 8 1/2 folded in half)

4 x 5 1/4 Very Vanilla card stock layer

Assembly:

* Stamp the sentiment with Merry Merlot ink.

* Stamp the flower image with Evening Evergreen new In Color 2021-2023.

* Blend a tiny bit of Merry Merlot ink using a Blender Pen  ** I did this because I was trying to replicate the flower in my garden which has vanilla petals and the slightest hint of dark red in the centre.

* Emboss this stamped layer with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder - my retiring fav!

* Adhere the layer to the card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Love this texture!  Click here to buy the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder  Item #151775

The new leaves are lighter green at this time of year, but they darken (see the leaf on the ground) and they last the entire year, a beautiful 'evening evergreen' colour :)   I hope I've inspired you to look around and be inspired by nature.

Enjoy and have a super day!

Soft Succulent with Pretty Peacock for Fab Friday 211

 Hello, and thx for visiting!

I have another sneak peek for you today :)   A new In Color named Soft Succulent!    I used it to create todays card for the Fab Friday Challenge #211.  Please click on either my card or the Fab Friday image to go directly to their blog post.

Soft Succulent is just as the name suggests, a soft green, the kind of green you might find on a succulent cactus.  Whenever I provide a sneak peek I like to show it with existing and sometimes retiring products so you can really see the coordination and longevity Stampin' Up! products provide!  The card base is Pretty Peacock, a retiring 2019-2021 In Color, but look how well these two colours go together!  The flower is coloured with Mint Macaron and Just Jade Stampin' Blends Markers, awesome coordination!

And here's the card details:

4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Pretty Peacock card base ( 4 1/4 x 11 folded in half to create a portrait orientation)
4 x 5 1/4 Soft Succulent card layer
4 x 2 3/4 Basic White care stock layer

Assembly;

* Emboss the soft Succulent layer with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder *Retiring and adhere to the Pretty Peacock *Retiring card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
* Stamp the sentiment from the Best Year stamp set in the middle of the Basic White card layer using Memento Black Ink.
* Stamp the arching blossoms from the Forever Blossoms stamp set to create a curve, wrapping around the sentiment with Memento Black Ink.  I'm hoping the curve of this flower stem looks like the oval shape as per the challenge design.  :)
*  Colour the flower with Stampin' Blends Markers.  I used Mint Macaron and Just Jade because I wanted to see how well all the greens coordinate together.  I don't have the Soft Succulent Blends yet, but they're in my next order ;)
* Adhere the the stamped layer to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals and embellish with Metallic Pearls.  Its hard to see in the picture, but these fabulous pearls take on a slight green colour when surrounded by the greens of the card and blend beautifully while adding bling.

Enjoy and have a super day!

Ridiculously Awesome & Wildly Happy SIP cards with Bling

 Hello friends thx so much for popping by today!

I have a simple SIP card for you today, what's a SIP card?  Stamps Ink and Paper, and a bit of bling of course :)     The bling is from the New Annual Catalogue, available May 4.  As demonstrators we're able to preorder a select few items, this card features two of the five new 2021-2023 In Colors, and the In Color Jewels!

The two retiring stamp sets, Ridiculously Awesome and Wildly Happy, are currently available while supplies last.  Click on the link to go directly to the Last Chance Products Sale on my online store.   If you use Host Code 4SAMCCJA I will send you a little gift in May with a thank you card.

Both cards have the same measurements, but the orientation is different.  The vertical portrait card above uses Polished Pink card stock and ink.  The narrow border is Night of Navy.  The horizontal landscape card below uses Fresh Freesia card stock and ink and the border is Basic Gray.

Here's the card details:

* Card base:
4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Polished Pink card stock  (5 1/2 x 8 1/4  folded in half) to create a portrait style vertical card.
5 1/2 x 4 1/4 Fresh Freesia card stock (4 1/4 x 11 folded in half) to create a landscape style horizontal card.

*First layer:
3 1/4 x 4 1/2 Night of Navy card stock
4 1/2 x 3 1/4 Basic Gray card stock

* Second layer:
3 1/8 x 4 3/8 Basic White card stock

* Stamp the sentiment of choice, using the colour of choice, on the Basic White card stock layer.
*  Stamp the elephant image using Basic Gray ink on the landscape card because there's more space with this orientation.
* Flick colour from the brush end of the Stampin' Blends Markers on the card.  I used Flirty Flamingo for the Polished Pink card and Light Highland Heather for the Fresh Fressia card simply because I don't have the Stampin'  Blends Markers for those colours ....yet :)
*  Embellish with In Color Jewels.

Adhere all the layers with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Please check out my Facebook video here SIP card for further directions.

Enjoy and have a super day!

Beauty of Friendship & Nature's Beauty for Paper Players 536 Color Challenge

 Hello, thanks so much for visiting!

Todays card is for a fun Color Challenge #536 from LeAnne at the Paper Players.  Please click on either my card or the Paper Players image to go directly to their blog post.  The colours we are to use are Misty Moonlight, Merry Merlot and Crumb Cake.  My new catalogue preorder has just arrived and I knew I wanted to use a particular paper within the Beauty Of The Earth Designers Series Paper pack.  As I started to create I decided to make a Magic Card.  I made a Magic Card last week, inspired yet again by our whimsical chicks.  You can find that post here, Magic Card how to with complete instructions and the video link I found from Brandi Barnard's Magic Card video.  Give it a try, its a fun one!  If you have any questions please pop them in the comments below and I will respond.

The first picture is of the Magic Card pulled out of its pocket.  The second two pictures show how the card looks a different stages of opening.  The card is designed so that the message goes on the back, kind of like a postcard in a pocket.

Click on my card to go to Color Challenge PP536

This is how the card looks before opening.  Funny thing, when I took the photograph the window sheet reflected the clouds outside my window, so it looks like there are clouds on the card, it's just a reflection!

The last picture shows how the card looks when being pulled out of the pocket.  Take care when putting it in and taking it out so that the die cuts do not catch on the frame.  My recommendation for next time is to use Adhesive Sheets to adhere the dies cuts.  I didn't have any so had to wing it this time :)  Magic cards are often done with Staz On ink on the window sheet with the images and sentiment on the card stock,  they slide in and out of the pocket easily.

Click on the image to go to Color Challenge PP536

Please see this post including video for the specific how to's of creating a Magic Card. Magic Card how to

Here's the specifics for this card:

* 5 1/2 by 12 Misty Moonlight Card Stock folded to create the pocket

* 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Misty Moonlight layer

* 3 3/4 x 5 1/4 Beauty Of The Earth (DSP) layer

* 3 3/4 x 5 1/4 Window Sheet layer

Assembly & Trix:

* Stamp the bushes using Mossy Meadow ink on Mossy Meadow card stock.

*** Darken the Crumb Cake card stock with Crumb Cake ink and Blending Brushes to add some depth of colour to the tree before die cutting, as the tree branches are a bit fragile.

* Using the Beautiful Trees dies, cut the tree from Crumb Cake Card Stock, bushes from Mossy Meadow, and birds from Merry Merlot.

* Stamp the fox from Nature's Beauty stamp set with Memento Black Ink, and colour with Stampin' Blends Markers in Bronze and Light Cinnamon Cider.  Fussy cut out.

* Stamp the sentiment with Merry Merlot ink on Basic White card stock and fussy cut out.

*** Line up the DSP under the Window Sheet and arrange placement of fox and bushes on the DSP, under the window sheet of tree, sentiment and birds.  Remember to allow room for the Misty Moonlight frame.  Adhere all using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I glue the tree first and set aside to dry.  I used three die cut bushes and trimmed them to fit behind the fox for a bit of contrast.

* Cut a circle and fold in half to work as a pull tab for the top of the card.  I glue first to the back of DSP,  let it dry and then fold over the front half of the circle and glue it to the Window Sheet layer.  Set it aside to dry.  The pull tab is what holds the Window Sheet layer and DSP together, while allowing them to stay separate and slide over the Misty Moonlight card layer within the pocket.

Enjoy and have a super day!

Fine Art Floral dsp & Dragonfly Garden stamp set for TGIF Challenge #311

 Hello and thanks for visiting!

Today's card is all about the Designers Series Paper (dsp) and what better way to showcase this awesome paper than a Slimline Card - that's the sketch challenge at TGIF this week.  Truthfully, I have been afraid to cut into this gorgeous piece of paper.  Actually I think I want to frame one piece.  So when I saw this challenge I knew I had to finally take a deep breath and "cut the paper" -Ha!  Please click on either my card or the TGIF image to go directly to their blog post and prepare to be inspired.  There is so much talent here.  Why not play along, grab your favourite dsp and create!

Here's the card details:

* Basic White Thick Card Stock 3/12 x 8 1/2

* Poppy Parade Card Stock 8 7/16 x 3 7/16 (one line before the 8 1/2  & 3 1/2 mark)

* Fine Art Floral dsp  8 3/8 x 3 3/8

* Adhere Fine Art Floral to Poppy Parade with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

* Wrap Gold Twine from the Forever Greenery Combo Pack around the base of the card.  *** 'Trix' I use Stampjn' Seal on the back of the Poppy Parade to hold the twine in place as I wrap.  Secure with a glue dot and tie a bow.  I decided to bunch up an extra strand of twine to add some dimension.

* Adhere this layer to the Basic White Thick card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.

* Stamp a greeting onto a piece of Basic White paper with Memento Black Ink and fussy cut out.  Adhere to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.   I wanted to small, narrow horizontal piece to mimic the slimline of the card, so I chose to put the larger sentiment inside the card,  "Life Is better with a friend like you", both from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.

* Stamp a dragonfly with Memento Black Ink and punch out with the Dragonflies Punch.  Colour with Pool Party Stampin' Blends Markers.

* Add a bit of bling with Gold Glitter Enamel Dots.

** The Fine Art Floral is available in the January - June 2021 Mini Catalogue while supplies last.

Enjoy and have a super day!

Kylie's Demonstrator Training Program Blog Hop for April with Fine Art Floral dsp

Hello and thanks so much for visiting!   We are so happy that you could join us today for this blog hop for ideas and creative inspiration.  We are a group of Stampin' Up!® Demonstrators from around the world that are taking part in training that is helping us to build a successful Stampin' Up!® business and reach some goals we have set. We really appreciate your support.

You may be starting here or have come from another blog - either way you can find the link list at the bottom of this post so that you can see every blog post and idea today.

The star of my card is the Fine Art Floral Designers Series Paper.  I was inspired by a card on Page 13 of the new catalogue - What?  The new catalogue? - Yes, the new catalogue - I have that little beauty in my hands - just one of the many perks of being a demonstrator!  *Please contact me to learn more.  And I was inspired by a fabulous free tutorial from Mary Fish at Stampin' Pretty.

This card is neat because by varying the number of layers, as well as altering the measurements of the layers, the card will always have a slightly different look.  I made a similar card last week with different measurements, you can see that blog post here April 6 post.

And here's the card details:

5 1/2 x 4 1/4 Thick Very Vanilla card base (5 1/2 x 8 1/4 folded in half)

2 3/4 x 5 Mossy Meadow card stock layer

2 3/4 x 5 Old Olive card stock layer

2 5/8 x 4 7/8 Fine Art Floral dsp

3/4 x 2 1/5 strip of Very Vanilla card stock

1/4 x 3 Strip of either Old Olive or Mossy Meadow  *Use whatever little strip you have available from these complimentary greens.

Assembly and 'Trix'   :)

***  The 'Trix' with this card is to ensure that the card base, first layer of card stock (Mossy Meadow) and top dsp layer are all square to each other.  The Old Olive middle layer is the only one on an angle.  It's a visual trick to the eye.

***  The other 'Trix' is to use Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Add a fair bit of glue to the centre of the Old Olive layer, lay it on the Mossy Meadow layer and twist it slightly.

*  The dsp layer is an 1/8 of an inch smaller than the card stock layers, so line it up square with the Mossy Meadow layer and adhere with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Glue all layers to the Very Vanilla base.

*  Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue adhere the Scalloped Lace Trim to the narrow strip of Mossy Meadow or Old Olive and set it aside to dry.

 *  Stamp the 'thanks' sentiment from the Springtime Joy stamp set to the 3/4 piece of Very Vanilla using Mossy Meadow ink.  I tried stamping it on both the left and right side of the Very Vanilla label, just for interest.

*  Adhere the Very Vanilla sentiment piece to the lace piece with Multipurpose Liquid Glue then add Stampin' Dimensionals to the top half of the Very Vanilla and adhere to the card.

*  Tie a bow with the Gold Trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo pack and adhere with a Mini Glue Dot.

*  Embellish with some bling, I used Gold Glitter Enamel dots & Metallic Pearls - which is your favourite?

Enjoy the rest of the blog hop!

Freshly Made Sketches #480 with Butterfly Duet Punch and DSP

 Hello and thx for visiting!

Todays card is super fun and easy to create!  The Freshly Made Sketches Challenge from Jen B just made me think of butterflies fluttering along gracefully in a group. I hope I've captured that here.  Please click on my card or the image for Freshly Made Sketches to go directly to their blog post.  And give it a try, create a sweeping graceful focal point for a card!

Here's the card details:
5 1/2 x 4 1/4 Flirty Flamingo card base ( 5 1/2 x 8 1/4 folded in half)
4 x 5 1/4 Fine Art Floral Designers Series Paper (dsp)
1/2 x 2 1/8 strip of Basic White card stock for the sentiment
3/4 x 2 1/4 strip of Flirty Flamingo card stock

Assembly & 'Trix'  :)
*  Adhere the dsp to the Flirty Flamingo card stock.  I love this dsp because of the subtle weaving pattern throughout, and I thought it was perfect for the sweeping graceful butterflies.
*  Stamp the sentiment from the Springtime Joy stamp set in Old Olive ink and attach to the Flirty Flamingo strip with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
*  Punch eight butterflies from the flip side of the dsp.  I loved the random colours that appeared on the butterflies using this particular pattern.
***  Lay the butterflies on the paper first to find a flowing pattern.  Align with the sentiment strip.
*  Adhere the sentiment strip and each butterfly using Multipurpose Liquid Glue on one side of each butterfly or the centre, whichever you prefer, to add a bit of dimension.
* Finally add some bling to further emphasis the flow and graceful pattern on the card.  I used the the Artistry Blooms Sequins.

The Butterfly Duet Punch is retiring and available at a discount!  Click here  to shop now on my online store using Host Code 4SAMCCJA

Enjoy and have a super day!
