Paper Pumpkin July 2021

Hello and thanks for visiting!

Today's cards are from the most recent Paper Pumpkin, July 2021 kit -  The Adventure Begins.  I love this set!  It's easy to take away on VA, kids can create Paper Pumpkin cards - great rainy day activity - the fonts are amazing and the sentiments versatile.  I will use these sentiments well after the kit contents are finished - and I may even buy a refill, I love this kit so much!

As I was creating I was thinking of all the uses for these cards, they'd be great teacher thank you cards, they're terrific to have on hand when you need a card at the ready.  The first two cards are alternative ideas using the kit contents, just switched up a bit.  The first, a congrats card for two of my favourite people :)    The second, a hello card for a friend who is often at her trailer.   The last two cards are per the instructions, however I switched out the sentiment on the one card and added in a sentiment from the Whimsical Trees stamp set, (available Aug. 3 2021) which I think can be used throughout the year.  The fun fold design of the card is neat and different and I absolutely love the envelopes!  And, my favourite sequins are included, two colours from the Artistry Blooms Sequins! Woohoo, I was running low on those little beauties.

Best of all I was able to photograph these cards on my Muskoka chair, which just happens to be Misty Moonlight, well not really but it's pretty close :)

Peaceful Moments stamp set

Even on vacation I bring my trusty Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.  I only wanted part of the sentiment of this particular stamp so I used the marker to apply colour, and I purposefully distressed the colour a bit to look a bit rustic .

When I take my Paper Pumpkin kit with me on vacation I also take one other versatile stamp set with me for alternative card ideas.  This time I used used Peaceful Moments, however Best Year and Many Messages are two other stamp sets that provide a variety of sentiments.

Hope Box August Paper Pumpkin & July PP Alternatives

 Hello and thanks for visiting!

I'm excited to share with you some alternative card ideas for the July Paper Pumpkin Kit called Expressions in Color and introduce the August Kit called "Hope Box".  It's a special-edition kit created by Shelli.  Please find the details on this kit below.  To order your Hope Box click here, Lesley's Online Store Paper Pumpkin Kits before August 10th.  Paper Pumpkin is an excellent way to create with a monthly subscription, everything you need is in one box, how simple is that!

The great thing about Paper Pumpkin is the unique supplies that come in every kit, there's always something a little different for you to mix and match as you wish.  Here are a few alternative card ideas using the Expression In Color Paper Pumpkin Kit.

Change up the colours as you wish.  I chose Basic Grey for the Merci card, Flirty Flamingo for the Thanks card, Thick Basic White and Bermuda Bay for the two floral cards.

Assembly & Trix:

*  The velum sentiment is glued onto cardstock using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, (glue), fussy cut out, and then adhered using Stampin' Dimensionals.  ***Trix, adhere the cutouts to the back of the sentiment first, using Stampin' Seal adhesive and then adhere to the velum layer using Stampin' Dimensionals.  Adhere the velum to the card using glue only where the sentiment is.  Carefully adhere other areas of the velum using tiny bits of glue, using the pattern to hide the glue.

*  The velum can be coloured on the reverse using Stampin' Blends Markers.  I chose Polished Pink, Pale Papaya and Granny Apple Green and then spritzed my colouring with 99% Rubbing Alcohol to create the blending of colour.  For the last card I used Bermuda Bay, Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green.

*  Wink of Stella always adds that little extra zing.  These cards were hard to photograph to capture the colours just right and pick up on the Wink Of Stella, I needed the sunshine in the backyard.

Expressions In Ink DSP with Garden Birdhouses for PP548

 Hello and thanks for visiting!

Today's card is inspired by Anne Marie's Theme Challenge at the Paper Players.  I chose stripes, check out their blog by clicking on either my card or their image.  Will you choose stars or stripes?  :)

The flowers on this card are distressed, I bended the edges, but couldn't bring myself to distress the embossed background, ha, maybe I'll get there as I practice the distressed look on cards.  I love the look, but I haven't figured out how to do it to enhance the card instead of creating a mess - ha.  Oh well, I'll keep trying, and pushing out of my comfort zone.  If you like my card, I'd love for you to leave a comment below, do you have difficulty distressing your cards?  Could you give me a few pointers of how to do it successfully?  Thx so much :)

And here's the card details:

4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Thick Basic White card base (4 1/4 x 11 folded in half portrait orientation)

4 x 5 1/4 Basic White cardstock (CS) layer

Scrap piece of Basic White for sentiment

1 3/4 x 4 Expressions In Ink Designer Series Paper (DSP)

Garden Birdhouses stamp set

Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder

Polished Pink Ink Pad

Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon

Metallic Pearls

Paper Snips Scissors

*****Click here, Lesley's My Projects Page to shop the products used for this card.  Remember to use the Host Code for the month (found on the right sidebar of this blog) when your order is $60 or greater and then I can send you a thank you gift in the mail the following month.

Assembly & Trix:

*  Emboss the Basic White CS layer with the Tasteful Textile folder and adhere to the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (glue)

*  Cut flowers from the Expressions In Ink DSP with the Artistic Dies and scissors.  ***Trix, initially I started to cut the individual flowers from the DSP using  the dies, then I realized I didn't need to do that, each flower has it's own shape but it blends into the flower beside it, so I decided to free hand it with scissors for the rest of the flowers.

*  Stamp the 'hello' sentiment using Polished Pink ink.

*  Decide on the placement of flowers, sentiment and ribbon on and under the band of striped DSP.

*  Distress the edges of the flowers by bending the paper and rolling it between your fingers.

*  Adhere the first flower under the DSP using glue, then adhere the DSP with Stampin' Dimensionals.

*  Adhere the sentiment with glue and then the ribbon.  ***Trix. I learned the ribbon trick from Tammy Wilson, an Artisan Design Team member, cut the open weave ribbon apart to create two tiny strips of ribbon and tie them together in a bow.  I love this dimension!  Thank you Tammy!

*  Adhere the bow with Mini Glue Dots, then add the last flower with glue.

*  Embellish as desired with the Metallic Pearls.

Free As A Bird stamp set for TGIFC 323 & Fab Friday 217

 Hello and thanks for visiting!

Well I'm not sure about today's card, when I sat down to create last evening, its what came to be, so I'm posting it.    I really love Fresh Freesia, Polished Pink and Granny Apple Green together,  they're the colours for the  TGIF Challenge #323 this week.  I didn't reach for DSP or a stamp set first, instead I reached for the ink pads this time.  At the same time I was inspired by the neat sketch from Fab Friday #217.  So a geometric card of sorts was created using Shimmery White cardstock and Water Painters.  I hope my card inspires you to try something new and create in a different way, you never know what will appear :)

Please click on the images for both challenges to visit their blog posts directly and enjoy the inspiration!

And here's the card details:

4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Basic Black card base  (4 1/4 x 11 folded in half)

4 1/8 x 5 3/8 Polished Pink cardstock (CS)

4 x 5 1/4 Shimmery White CS

Ink Pads: Fresh Freesia, Polished Pink & Granny Apple Green

Black Memento Ink pad

Free As A Bird stamp set

Water Painters

Assembly & Trix:

*  Using the largest Water Painter wet the entire surface of the Shimmery White C.S

*  Add a stipe of each colour, clean the brush between colours.

*  Stamp the "thank you" sentiment using Memento Black Ink on Shimmery White CS and fussy cut out.

*  Stamp the smallest flower in the Free As A Bird stamp set twice using Fresh Freesia and fussy cut out.

*  Layer the flowers and sentiment using Multipurpose Liquid Glue and Stampin' Dimensionals.  ***Trix, to make the sentiment really pop off the card double up on dimensionals and cut them to fit and work around the flowers.

Mystery Stamping at ONFN

 Hello and thanks for visiting!

On the first Friday of every month I offer an "Open Night Friday Night" free Zoom Social.  This last year has been challenging for many as we all miss the opportunities to socialize freely and create together.  So I started something called ONFN (Open Night Friday Night), come and craft with us.  Whether you're a paper crafter or a knitter or a painter, bring your craft and socialize with us.  Please email me if you're interested in joining us.

For those that like to paper craft I offer  Mystery Stamping.  The directions for preparing the card supplies are mailed out with the Zoom link.  Then at ONFN I provide the rest of the assembly and Trix ideas.  Everyone creates their own unique card, and I'm always amazed at how each card is so completely different.

Don't have any card making supplies and think you'd like to try?  I'm happy to help, I offer a Take & Make Kit available for purchase.  Four cards for $25, please email me for further info.  lesley@stampintrix.ca  Click here, Lesley's Online Store to visit my online store and check out the 'My Projects' page.

At last Friday's ONFN we used two pieces of Designer Series Paper (DSP) and one frame a smidge bigger.  Of course people can choose to use DSP or cardstock, they can make their own patterned DSP, keep the colours the same or mix it up.  That's how the difference happens.  Here are four cards I created with the same measurements but different DSP.

Hand Penned DSP

In The Wild DSP

Pattern Party DSP & Coastal Cabana cardstock

Same DSP added Magenta Madness

See what I mean?  How cool is this to create four completely different cards with the same measurements.  Switch up the DSP or cardstock and voila!

Assembly & Trix:

*  Apply the shades of blue inks to the Basic White CS layer using Blending Brushes.  ***Trix, blend from lightest to dark, I used Pool Party on the left side of the card, followed by Coastal Cabana and ended with Balmy Blue on the right side of the card.  I tried to create three strips of colour and then blended them together at the edges.

*  Stamp the puffin with Memento Black ink and fussy cut out.

*  Colour the puffin with Stampin' Blends Markers.

*  Stamp the 'thank you' sentiment using VersaMark ink and emboss with White Embossing Powder.

*  Cut the sentiment into separate words.

*  Adhere the Basic White CS layer to the Coastal Cabana CS layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (glue)

*  Adhere the card front to the card base with glue.

*  Decide on the placement of the puffin and the words.  ***Trix, I wanted it to look like the puffin was shouting thank you in all directions, and I just preferred the look of the sentiment cut apart and on an angle.

*  Adhere the puffin and the "thank" with Stampin' Dimensionals and glue the word "you" just to create a bit of dimension.

*  Embellish with sequins as desired.

Forever Blossoms for Freshly Made Sketches #492

 Hello and thanks for visiting!

Today's card is inspired by Cecile's Sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Please click on either my card or the FMS blog post image to visit and prepare to be inspired.  My goal with this card was to keep it simple.  One stamp set, two or three colours max, with a simple technique using the Stamparatus™

And here's the card details:

5 x 5 Thick Basic White card base (5 x 10 folded in half)

3 x 3 Thick Basic White cardstock (CS) layer

3 1/16 x 3 1/16 Calypso Coral CS layer.  Just a smidge bigger to add a hint of colour.

Forever Blossoms stamp set

Memento Black Ink

Stampin' Blends Markers in Pale Papaya and Granny Apple Green

Artistry Blooms Sequins

Stamparatus™

Assembly & Trix:

*  Adhere the 3 inch square Thick Basic White layer to the slightly larger Calypso Coral layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

*  Centre the smaller square over the larger square on the Stamparatus™

*  Ensure both squares are well secured with magnets.

*  Stamp the floral image using Memento Black Ink.  ***Trix, align the flower image across the 3x3 square ensuring that some of the image falls off the square and appears on the 5x5 square.

*  Stamp the sentiment using Memento Black ink.

*  Carefully remove the top 3x3 square and stamp again to ensure the image is clear on the 5x5 card base.

*  Colour the image with blends markers.

*  Adhere the 3x3 square with dimensionals, ensuring the image is lined up perfectly with the card base image.

*  Embellish with Artistry Blooms sequins.

*  That's it! done!  :)   Amazing!  A simple Trix can elevate a single image and make it pop off the page.

In The Wild Suite for The Paper Players #547 Challenge

 Hello and thanks for visiting!

Well, I have been wanting to create a card with this particular paper from the In The Wild DSP pack since I received it.  I was so excited to see the Paper Players Challenge this week and I thought oh - perfect - I will make a card with this paper.  However, then I couldn't cover the paper with the top layer as per the sketch.  Want to see what I mean?  Check out The Paper Players blog post by clicking on either my card or The Paper Players image to see the sketch Laurie has created for us.

Finally after much re working I cut out the center section with a die  :) and kept the pattern intact!  I love the versatility of this sketch.  I think it's a go to for me for design.  The Trix when using the same DSP for a sketch like this is dimensionals - double up, triple up, whatever you need to create the dimension :)   Now go make a card :)  Have fun!

And here's the card details:

4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Evening Evergreen card base ( 5 1/2 x 8 1/2  folded in half landscape orientation)

4 1/8 x 5 3/8 In The Wild Designer Series Paper  *****Click here, In The Wild DSP to shop the paper sale July 1 - August 2 2021

Scrap Basic White cardstock (CS) for the plant images and sentiment strip

In The Wild Suite stamp set and dies

Color & Contour stamp set

Stitched Rectangle Dies

Ink Pads: Soft Succulent & Evening Evergreen

Stampin' Dimensionals

Metallic Pearls embellishments

Assembly & Trix:

*  Die cut the center from the DSP using the Stitched Rectangle Dies then adhere the frame to the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (glue)

*  Stamp the plant image 2x using Soft Succulent ink on Basic White CS and die cut out.

*  Adhere one plant image to the card base using Stampin' Dimensionals, (dimensionals)

*  Adhere the die cut DSP centre to the card base using dimensionals.  ***Trix, I doubled up the dimensionals to add more lift to the card.  I used one dimensional layer for the plant and then two dimensionals stacked on top of each other to adhere the centre section of DSP.

*  Adhere the second plant image to the card using two Mini dimensionals, fitting it in to the existing corner image.

*  Stamp the sentiment using Evening Evergreen ink on Basic White CS.

*  Die cut the sentiment using a Stitched Rectangle die.  ***Trix, I die cut the sentiment and then die cut it again to shorten the rectangle to fit the area.

*  Adhere the sentiment to the DSP using glue.

*  Embellish with Silver Metallic Pearls as desired.

Here is better view of the depth and dimension you can create with dimensionals :)
