Magical Meadow

 Hello and thanks for visiting!

I love playing with non traditional colour schemes at Christmas.  This card uses Basic Grey and Starry Sky Stampin' Write Markers for the berry sprig.   Give it a try, and please let me know your favourite colour schemes at Christmas.

***  The Trix ***

* Use a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Thick Basic White cardstock to support the layers on this card.

*  Stamp the berry sprig onto a 4 1/4" x 4 1/2" piece of Thick Basic White cardstock.  ***Trix, to create the faded look, use Stampin' Write Markers to apply ink to the stamp, stamp off on scrap paper then stamp onto the card layer.

*  Emboss the layer using the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder, #162026 then rough up the edges with scissors to create a distressed look.  ***Trix, I also like the crumple the layer a bit to break up the paper fibers.  Adhere to the card base with glue.

*  Stamp 2" x 2" sentiment layer with Starry Sky ink.  I used a favourite retired stamp set called Framed & Festive.  Rough up the edges a bit with scissors.

*  Adhere Silver & White 1/2" Sheer Ribbon, #162149 to the sentiment layer, then adhere to the card base with dimensional.

A Bunch of Cards with One Sketch

 Hello and thanks for visiting!

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends :)  I'm thankful for card making!  I'm thankful for many things and the joy of card making is one of those things.  I love playing with stamps, ink and paper - it is my happy place :)

Joanne's super versatile sketch has inspired a variety of cards - yes truly this is the same sketch - look closely :)

***  The Trix  ***

*  Start with the basic sketch then change up where the sentiment goes  *

*  The Cajun Craze card base measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"  *Trix, add a layer of Cajun Craze embossed cardstock for a little extra texture - I used an old favourite called Subtle Dimensions, but choose what you like and make it a smidge smaller than the card base - an 1/8" of an inch or so.

*  Adhere a 3 1/8" x 4 3/8" piece of Fresh As A Daisy DSP to the centre of the card front, then adhere a coordinating 3" x 4" piece just slightly off centre as in the picture above to create a border on three sides.

*  Stamp the sentiment from the Something Fancy Stamp set with Pretty Peacock ink and punch out using the 2" Circle Punch, an Online Exclusives Fave :)

*  Adhere the sentiment with dimensionals and add a bit of ribbon for embellishment.  *Trix, scrunch up the ribbon by folding it back on itself and securing with glue dots.

***Trix, move the sentiment and focus down on the card.  This one uses Rhino Ready Stamp Set

The Earthen Elegance version uses the Earthen Elegance DSP with an extra smidge of Soft Sea Foam for a layer to tie in the sprig of greenery.

And finally Zoo Crew DSP is paired with Sending Smiles Stamp Set & Sending Dies

Welcome Inn Paper Pumpkin Kit Alternatives

 Hello and thanks for visiting!

Today's cards are inspired by the June 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit called Welcome Inn.  As I was busy packing, and thinking - I'll have no time to create - I heard my inner voice say, "just take it along" - I'm so glad I did!

Kits are a quick and easy way to get creative while on Vacation.  Sometimes I like the colour combo's Stampin' UP® includes - this one came with Night of Navy - other times I look at the kit, note the coordinating colours and grab an extra ink spot - this time I grabbed Calypso Coral.

Yes, did you know you can buy Uninked Stampin' Spots™, #141822 p.137 AC and ink them up with your favourite colours, Classic Stampin' Ink™ Refill p. 122-123 AC.

Here's the first card, made almost according to the instructions :)  I like the symmetry so I used both preprinted round vases and the only ink is the stamped sentiment.

***Trix, for the second card I cut off 1/3 of the hexagon shape and adhered it to the side of the card, grouped the vases and stamped the banner.  I love these printed card bases!

But stop! Oh my gosh - check out that cute little fox on the printed Calypso Coral card, I think I'll save one of these printed cards and add the fox from Playing In The Rain, #160542 when I get home.  So yes the Paper Pumpkin Kits inspire me to mix it up with the stamp sets I have.

*** The Trix  ***

* Use the Paper Trimmer, #152392 to cut the Calypso coral Banner in half lengthwise then flip on over for a white edge, glue together and glue to the card.

I like monochromatic colour schemes or a max of three colours together, so I altered this card by stamping a Calypso Coral vase.  ***Trix, stamp the vase image on the cut out vase, then flip it over and stamp again - voila - 2nd generation stamping and a bit of a distressed look to the image, I love it!

And last but not least, back to the traditional design, but mixed up a bit with supplies in the kit. So create your way, use the kit as inspiration and get creative, mix it up, change the colours, and have fun getting creative while on vacation :)

Circle Sayings for FMS593

 Hello and thanks for visiting!

Today's card was inspired by another special birthday in our family.  I loved Karren's sketch challenge over @ Freshly Made Sketches because I could highlight some of my favourite retired dsp called, By The Bay 6x6, #160433, (who knows it may appear on the Clearance Rack :)  in the future).  I think it coordinates well with the shells from the Circle Sayings Stamp Set, #161348.  Please click the hyperlink above or the sketch challenge below to visit the blog challenge and then go make a card for someone special in your life!

***  The Trix  ***

*  Follow the flow of the pattern  *

*  Both pieces of DSP have a flow, a movement so to speak.  Orient the patterns so they work together, a flow from left to right.  First layer matches the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Night of Navy card base, the second layer is 3 1/4 x 5 1/2.

*  Stamp the 3 3/4 x 2 inch sentiment layer with VersaMark® Ink, #102283 and Emboss with Gold Embossing Powder, #155555, then water colour the shells with Petal Pink Ink.  Add the sentiment with Night of Navy ink.

*  Orient the Petal Pink bow so it matches the flow on the DSP and adhere with dimensional.  Embellish with gems, Festive Pearls, #159963 & Iridescent Pearls Basic Jewels, #158987.
