I made the Granny Apple Green four leaf clover using the little heart in the Punch Party stamp set, free during Sale-A-Bration which ends today.  I used the Stitched Shapes Framelets to cut out the square.  The little blades of grass are from Nature's Beauty and are a combination of Granny Apple Green and Just Jade, on a 4 x 1 strip.  The 'good luck'  is from Art Gallery stamp set, and cut out with the Floral Gallery dies.  I used Stampin' Blends Markers and the narrowest  watercolour painter to create the spots of colour.  The Granny Apple Green card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 with a Just Jade layer 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 and Basic White layer 4 x 5 1/4.

Thx for visiting and have a super day!

Global Design Project #280 - Positive Thoughts (#GDP280)

Hello, thx for visiting!  I hope todays post will inspire you to create!  This weeks GDP is a CASE the designer challenge.  CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit.

Originally I made a pack of these simple design cards while up north last summer using few supplies.  I love the colour combo of Pear Pizzaz, Smoky Slate and Basic White with a pop of colour.  When I saw the challenge for this week I decided to re-visit the card and add in some additional greys.

Please click on the picture to be taken to the Global Design Challenge #280.

Here's the details:

Basic White Thick cardstock 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 portrait card base; Smoky Slate layer 3 3/4 x 5; Basic White Thick 3 5/8 x 4 7/8 layer.

The fern leaf is stamped in Pear Pizzazz with a light wash of Mint Macaron brushed over with the Blending Brushes.  The butterfly is from Butterfly Gala and coloured with Stampin' Blends Markers in Light Balmy Blue, Light Seaside Spray and Light Pool Party and punched out with the Butterfly Duet punch.

The Well Suited Designer Series Paper is cut in 3/4 x 4 1/4 pieces punched twice with the Banner Triple Punch.  I added Shimmer Ribbon to the back of the 1 x 3 3/4 piece of basic white and popped up the sentiment with dimensionals.

And here is a picture of the original card, which do you prefer?  Have a super day!

Fab Friday 207 Entry - Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder & Best Year Stamp Set

Hello,  todays card is inspired by the simplicity of the Fab Fri 207 sketch.

Click on the image to go to the Fab Friday 207 site

I started with Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and embossed it with the fabulous Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.  I tried to enhance the colour around the folds of texture, similar to what I thought a painters palette might look like as colour is blended.  Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana and Balmy Blue are blended with Water Painters.  I spritzed the watercolour paper first with the Stampin' Spritzers to relax the paper fibers and enhance the 3D effect.

The sentiment is from Best Year stamp set.  I carefully stamped Granny Apple Green on the bottom and Coastal Cabana on the top of the Thank you, then stamped off, hoping to mimic the watercoloured look on the embossed layer.  Then I cut the image in half and raised the 'Thank You' on dimensionals.  The bottom script font,  'for all that you are'  is  Granny Apple Green and adhered to Reversible Ribbon, (pretty Peacock side) and then glued onto the embossed layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The Bermuda Bay card base is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4, with a 4 5/8 x 3 3/8 layer of Coastal Cabana, topped with the Fluid 100 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 layer.

Enjoy, and have a super day!

Nothings Better Than....Colouring with Friends

Hello, the 'Nothings Better Than' stamp set is easy to colour with our Stampin' Blends Markers.  I had the good fortune of a virtual stampin' social with friends last Saturday evening,  and I spent my time chatting & colouring.  It's so relaxing to chat and colour with friends.  Here's one of the cards I made.

In January I offered a Heart & Stroke Fundraiser called,  Zoom Social "Creating with Friends" for Heart & Stroke, our Saturday evening get together was a Zoom Social.  For details please see the picture below.  If you'd like to help me with my donation to Heart & Stoke this year, there's still time.  Simply send me an email lesley@stampintrix.ca and place a $60.00 online order using Hostcode JATDWGZA  Lesley Seabrook SU store  by February 27, 2021

Here's the card details:

The card was created with an 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 card base scored at 4 1/4 for a landscape Night of Navy card.  I added a 2 x 5 1/2 piece of 'In Good Taste' designer series paper for a background band.  Then I added a 5 1/2 x 3 1/2 layer of Night of Navy topped with a 4 1/2 x 3 piece of 'Love You Always' specialty designer series paper, from the Spring Mini Catalogue.   The Basic White Layer is 3 3/4 x 1 1/2 for the sentiment &/or image.   I decided to only add the coffee cups, coloured with Seaside Spray and Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends.  I wanted to have a few cards on hand that I could add a sentiment to later, or just simply to write a note on the inside as needed.  So I went rogue and omitted the sentiment on the front of the card, eeek is that allowed :)

I thought this card would be perfect to send to someone inviting them to a virtual coffee and chat,  or a coffee & cards class, or simply a "miss you" card - for that special friend you used be able to have coffee with.

This card was inspired by a free tutorial from  Stampin' Pretty

Enjoy and Have a super day!

SIP = Stamps Ink Paper A Touch of Ink on Clear Block Watercoloured background

Hello, and welcome to some simple stamping inspiration.  For this card I only used "A Touch of Ink" free stamp from Sale-a-bration on a clear block, ink, & notecards (for the paper).  SIP Stamp Ink Paper

I chose Note Cards because they are thick heavy weight cardstock and can hold the watered down ink very well.  Stampin' Up!® offers Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and Shimmery White Card Stock which are both fabulous, and I will do a watercolouring video shortly as I love watercolouring!, but for today I wanted to keep it simple :)

The awesome stamp set is the free "A Touch of Ink" photopolymer stamp set available until Feb 28, 2021.  It is a 2 step stamp, the images are intended to be just a tad offset, to give an "artistic" feel, and they are so forgiving, forget needing to line everything up perfectly, they are easy to use and spectacular.

I chose Balmy Blue Ink for the background, Granny Apple Green for the leaves and Melon Mambo for the flower.  The Hummingbird is Bermuda Bay with a touch of Gorgeous Grape, and Granny Apple Green.

So, onto the how to's:

1.  I chose to use Clear Block E, because I wanted to make notecards,  'E' was the closest to the size of the notecard.  You could use size D and make a smaller square background, perfect size for the butterfly in this set.  (You can always use watercolour paper and shimmery card stock, then add to a traditional size card with layers)

2.  Lightly press your stamp pad to the block and spritz with water, to pool and water down the ink. I used our Stampin' Spritzers because I love the fine mist they provide, but you could literally drop water from your finger tips to get the desired pooling.  Ensure you don't add too much water as this will cause the paper fibers to bend and curl too much.

3.  Apply the block to the paper and let the ink seep in and move.  Let your paper dry for a bit before the next step.  This doesn't take long, it gives you time to make a few more backgrounds, 'cause once you start you may not want to stop ;)

4.  When the card is dry, ink up the other stamps and create your desired design.  Because this is a two step stamp, I chose to play with the colour a bit and sometimes I stamped off to create a lighter outline and then filled in with the second stamp at full strength, whatever you like, play & practice on scrap paper, and see what you like.  I chose to spritz the hummingbird from an arms length away, because I wanted the colours to run together a bit, so they looked more natural on the hummingbird.  Be careful, a little water goes a long way here ;)

I hope I've inspired you to create this simple watercoloured design using SIP (stamps ink & paper).    As you can see, each card is unique, relative to the amount of ink and water on the paper. The Stampin' Up!® home office has created a video using the same technique, but with markers on the block instead of ink pads.  But as I said, today it was just SIP for me.  Enjoy, and have a super day!

Global Design Project #279 Theme Challenge (#GDP279)

Hello, the Global Design Project Challenge for this week is an animal theme challenge.  Of course I grabbed the "Hey Chick" and "Hey Birthday Chick" stamp sets and dies, because these crazy chickens seem to be appearing on many a card lately :)

Actually I created this card a week or so ago on a whim, and posted it on my Instagram as a,  "have a good weekend" message to my friends, a kind of, end of the work week celebration.  And at the time I forgot the bling - what? - yes! - I forgot the bling - these ladies need bling, so I had to recreate it ;)  Also, I really wanted it to seem like the chickens were dancing along a cobble stone path, away from the barnyard constraints as free range chickens tend to do.  The regular 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card just didn't seem quite right when I finished it, so, Hey Chick Cocktails Version #2 was created, and voila, GDP#279 entry.

I started with a 8 1/2 x 8 piece of Basic Gray cardstock, scored at 4.  Added a 8 1/2 x 1 1/4 strip of 'cobblestone like' patterned dsp from the In Good Taste designers series paper.  Each strip of Basic White is popped up with dimensionals, and is cut at 8 1/2 x 2 1/4 & 8 1/2 x 3/4.  The word 'cocktails' is cut from the Love You More Than dies on Coastal Cabana, and the wording is my handwriting, just because these friends look like a Gertrude and Gladys to me :)  The chickens are coloured with Stamping Blends in Smoky Slate & Rococo Rose; Gray Granite & Rococo Rose; Crumb Cake & Flirty Flamingo, I always use Petal Pink for the beaks, and legs and then add Crumb Cake on the legs to alter the colour a bit.  The cocktail is Pool Party, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight and Purple Posy.  And finally the bling is the wonderful Artistry Blooms Sequins.

Global Design Project #GDP278 Sketch Challenge

Hello, the Global Design Project (#GDP278) challenge for this week is a Sketch Challenge.  I started with a Basic White Thick 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 piece of cardstock, scored at  at 5 1/2.  I adhered a 3 1/2 x 4 1/4 Subtle 3D embossed basic white layer, that was spritzed with Frost White Glimmer Paint.  Since I'm not using an envelope for this card, I left the Vellum cardstock band casually wrapped around the front layer of the card, and only secured it in the middle at the back and front with tear and tape adhesive, leaving the sides to float .  I coloured the band with Bermuda Bay and Pool Party Stamping Blends markers.  The heart is hand cut from a Square Velum Doily, and coloured with Bermuda Bay Blends.  I cut the "Love You More" from the Love You More Than dies, using a piece of In Good Taste dsp,  and secured with glue dots.  The heart and words, kind of float, which is the look I was going for with the floating vellum band.  I hope I've inspired you to create a special card for someone you love this Valentines.  Have a super day!

Global Design Project #GDP277 Colour Challenge

Hello, The Global Design Project (GDP) challenge for this week is a colour challenge.  Use Sahara Sand, Blushing Bride and Rococo Rose.  I used the Stamping Blending brushes to create the background using a square vellum doily.  The sentiment is from Positive Thoughts stamp set, and inside I used "sorry for your loss" from the free Sale-a-bration, Heal Your Heart stamp set.  The circle is cut from the Stitched Shaped Framelets dies, and the linen thread is casually adhered to the back of the circle.  For some reason I've been on a 4x4 card size kick lately, and this card base is Sahara Sand.  Please click on the link to go directly to the Global Design Project.  Enjoy and have a super day!
